Development of a Multi-Perspective Patient Experience VR System for Perspective-Getting and Evaluation of Its Effects on Understanding Disability

Abstract

Empathic skills are important in care settings, but perspective-taking through imagination alone is insufficient. Perspective-getting, which involves actively acquiring information from others, offers an effective approach. In this study, we developed a VR-based, multi-perspective patient experience (PX) environment to support perspective-getting. We examined how changing perspectives during the PX experience affected learners’ understanding of others.
